Level 2 – The Next Steps

If you have had lessons before and need a brush up on technique, a reminder of routines or maybe learn more amalgamations, then this is the level for you. Most students who attend this level will have attended Level 1 and are ready for a bigger challenge.

What can I expect from Level 2?

Apart from a review of the essential basics of Ballroom and Latin American dancing, more emphasis is placed on technique, sway, footwork, floorcraft and improving your skill around the dance floor. You will be given instruction in Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and/or Rock Jive, Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep.

At this level you will have danced in but you will most certainly dance out with more style!

Level 3 – Advanced

This level is generally for students who have completed Levels 1, 1.5 and 2 with us or have attended a number of classes up to intermediate level elsewhere. Students will have more experience and thus be taught more demanding dance routines.

What can I expect from Level 3?

Review of basic figures and their make-up is an essential part of tuition – top professionals will revisit their full syllabi steps throughout their career on a frequent basis. At this level a keen eye is kept on all performances by the student and a ‘focus tip’ will be introduced. The tip could be studying a basic step, analysing a routine, exploring timing, revising footwork, understanding CBM and CBMP (Contrary Body Movement and Contrary Body Movement Position), improving floorcraft and correcting any bad habits! You will be given instruction in Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and/or Rock Jive, Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep.

At the end of this level you will have a much better understanding of syllabi figures and just why the official dance bodies analysed and developed them in this way. Newly acquired skills will enhance your dancing, allowing you to enjoy the activity in a relaxed and fun way, at the same time acting as a diversion from other factors that may influence your daily lives.
